April 17, 2025 More Clean Up and The View
I make a point of tuning into The View. Yes, I know they are despised by many, however I appreciate these very smart, informed, brave women. I learn something each morning, and while I may not always agree with everything, I find that I'm becoming so much more open to viewpoints that don't always align with what I may think. Does this mean I'm finally growing up...?
Today is a rerun, so I'll be heading outside, hallelujah, to work at organizing and cleaning the garden shed. We've purged in a very big way, so I am anxious to actually have some room in which to work! A couple of years ago, I invested in the Black and Decker line of ion battery operated lawn tools just for me, and I can't say enough about them. My favorite tool is the leaf blower, which has doubled as a broom in the garage, and a snow shovel when the accumulation is light. It will make light work of the dirt and cobwebs in the shed. Now if I can just get some of whom shall remain nameless (the Grands and their Gramps) to plug in the batteries to charge when they "borrow", I'd be in Heaven!
You all already know by now that the kitchen is in demo mode, with lots of items displaced until the cupboards are installed, about a month from now, so being able to get out in the fresh air is a godsend from the piles and boxes.
It's my hope that our old '70's ranch will have some new life breathed into her by the time all is said and done, including the outside. I have a long bed in the front and a shorter one in the back. The front has perennials but needs a good refresh. A few of the flowers have spread into others' dance space and need to be culled out. There are spaces that need something new planted. The back bed is likely to lose the shrub roses that get chewed up each summer, and replaced with something less labor intensive and a bit more hardy. Hydrangaes maybe?
No flowers will be purchased or pots planted until we return at the end of May so nothing dries up and dies. I do feel if I get my weak attempts at landscaping to the rights, it won't matter much.
So, as the dishwasher churns, and a batch of bread mixes, I'm going to get plugged in, get the tunes rocking, and outside I go!
Thanks for checking in. ☘
