February 16, 2026 Random Ramblings

Our home is so quiet without those two Granddog girls! Jared got back late last night and they left for Chicago early this morning. We'll miss them.

I work consistently to keep our home from the "ick" factor of having a dog inside. Those who have pets know what I'm talking about, and those who would never have a pet inside will appreciate that.  The last thing I want is to have anyone come in and instantly say, "you must have a dog", whether it's hair everywhere or a smell. Not on my watch.

The sectional gets vacuumed regularly, even though Bo can't manage to get up on it anymore, as does our chairs. Pillows have washable covers. Throws get a spin, as well. Area rugs are also washable when vacuuming them isn't enough.  All of this got done when the girls left.

Speaking of Bo, his incision is healing well and looks good. We don't have to put his boot on him as he has been leaving it alone. The only concern is that he still has yet to put any weight on that leg. This was not the experience we had with the previous surgeries. With no improvement, I'll call the vet tomorrow. I know that this time, there was a lot of scar tissue and arthritis that had to be removed, so maybe that's a factor.

Valentine's Day was uneventful. I made cupcakes. Everyone ate them. Period.

So, with that out of the way, I brought our St. Pat's. I don't tend to decorate a lot anymore, with any season. This will stay out for quite a while, probably the longest of any season, even Christmas. St. Pat's also covers Spring. I do add a few items for Easter.

The cookie jar is empty, the cupcakes consumed. There is cinnamon bread in the keeper for Randy's breakfast, plus an additional loaf in the freezer. I'm baking buns today for sandwiches, cookies can wait until tomorrow. Randy and the boys eat all of it, and I'm the one who has the weight issue...?!

Wrestling is coming to an end with one meet this week and the last two next week.  We have really enjoyed watching, and hope that most of the boys continue on into high school. Some will choose basketball instead.

If you've made it this far, I'm sorry your day isn't offering anything more interesting, but I do appreciate you putting up with my blathering while my dough mixes.

Now, go outside and enjoy this beautiful day! ☘
