April 6, 2026 Here We Go...
These past few weeks have been a whirlwind.
I'm amazed at all the adjustments we are having to make, not that any of it is a bad thing. The shop is going through its own metamorphosis, from a workplace to more of a massive man cave, for lack of a better term. The mess has only just begun as Randy has removed an old double window, framed out the opening, and insulated it, plus the dog door that no longer gets used. That end of the building will now be just storage and having it closed in will make it easier to secure. This is his first phase of getting the building ready for the contractor and his crew, who will tear off the rest of the siding and install the new. We will have painting to do, mostly doors, but it needs to get a lot warmer!
I've designed a new landing for the front of the garden shed, with the help of ChatGPT. It was fun! So, I have a picture, a detailed list, and a diagram to follow, so I'm pretty sure I can do it myself. The old pavers have already been removed and picked up by some lovely people to use around their firepit. We are now left with mud. I also need to upgrade our firepit, just a little facelift, but don't tell Randy. I think he's at capacity with the shop project.
We spent Easter weekend with Ryan and Liza. We had a gorgeous dinner at Mancini's Saturday to celebrate, then the Twins game on Sunday. It was a tad breezy and cold, but fun nonetheless. A bit of shopping was intermixed, and easy travel to and fro .
Today is catch-up for Randy, with a few things to finish up. I took care of the critters, picked up Rambo's yard deposits, and tilled up my flower beds. All the lavender I planted last spring did not survive the winter, but the ground cover looks good. Now I'm waiting to see if the new hyacinth bushes bud out. It was too chilly to stay out and do more.
We've been immersed in sports as a diversion to world events. With March Madness coming to a close, the WNBA can't begin soon enough for me. There is always baseball in the interim.
At any rate, this new rhythm we are experiencing will soon become familiar. The change is a good thing, as we are looking forward to the added freedom. It just feels so good. Our weekends are busy for the foreseeable future, with some travel, but I'm hoping the season doesn't just fly by too quickly.
Please continue to pray for our country and the military protecting us. ☘
