June 29, 2026. The Beat Goes On

Happy Monday...?  Can you stand more whining from me?

Our two most prolific repeat offenders have been on the rampage already. The first, now blocked, began his campaign on Saturday night, of course. Randy has his phone completely shut off on the weekends just for that reason.  This morning, there have been voicemails and texts, all which will be ignored.

The second showed up as I was helping Randy construct a cage of sorts on the tractor loader so the eaves under the rain troughs can be painted.  We were in a conversation about the building when he unceremoniously informed me that he and Randy would be going in the shop and shutting the door, dismissing me with a wave of his hand no less. WTH.

I'm now fuming in private, especially after finding out Randy agreed to a service call, in this oppressive heat, this afternoon.  Well, at least if offender 1 shows up, he'll be gone.

Randy's retirement, I'm feeling, has become the biggest joke in town...at least within the farming community.  It's so discouraging to have our time interrupted when we are working on our property and he's expected to drop everything.  To be clear, there are some loyal customers he still does favor, but they don't impose on him, always asking instead of demanding, giving him the option whether to take it on.

I guess what bothers me the most is the fact that there has been a disrespectful attitude toward his wanting to be done simply because it's inconvenient for them.  This does not pertain to the small engine jobs, like mowers or an antique project he can do in his own time.

Let us just say, my working inside today is keeping the outside world a safer place to be. ☘
