September 28, 2026. Trending

I know I promised no politics here, so I want to stick with that while also expressing my dismay over some horrifying developments over the past few days, namely Cornell and the latest, and most disturbing, black and while propaganda ad being run and paid for by our taxes.  If you haven't see it yet, watch for it.  I saw it for the first time last night, and all I could say was WTH was that??

With that said, I'll transition to an even more concerning trend: barrel-leg pants.  What self-respecting woman would willingly wear any piece of clothing with the word "barrel" in the name?  It makes even the thinnest, most fit person look like Festus from Gunsmoke, bowlegged as can be.  As a teen of the 70's, I already carry enough insecurity about my looks without bending to this fad.  Now, kudos to anyone who truly likes the look and wears it with confidence, but it's my greatest hope that it fades as fast as disco.

Has anyone seen the Martha Stewart ads for her skincare line?  Now, I'm the first to admit she looks amazing at 80 but have to feel just a little cringy with her "come hither" photos.  Maybe it's more about my not caring to become a sex symbol at my age...?  I do applaud her for touting GLP-1s as healthcare, by the way.  I know it's not for everyone, but for those who can finally get that extra boost, it's literally a lifesaver.

Clearly, I'm needing a day in the dirt to prep the flowers for winter to be bringing up crap that really doesn't mean much in the greater scheme of things.  I do have one important request, however.  It's been Suicide Awareness Month and it's coming to an end.  Please help continue to raise awareness; it's important.  Mental health is another topic that makes many uncomfortable but I will keep posting reminders on my feed.  Anxiety and depression are daily factors in so many lives, including mine.

I hope you got a couple of giggles along with the sobering aspects of today's post. I thought some of it would land softer with a bit of humor stirred in.

Be aware and be kind. Above all, make sure to vote. ☘
